What Are "Good Drugs"? (SPECIAL 2-FOR-1 OFFER BELOW) In Bolinas, California (north of San Francisco), local teenagers and young adults spilled out onto the streets with vodka bottles tucked into their trousers. Before the end of the night, one boy was found in a heap on the bathroom floor, reportedly from drinking too much, and another, who took some “bad drugs,” ended up hospitalized for two days. Those incidents, plus reports of young girls at the local High School scratching their faces from taking too much speed, led a group of Bolinas residents to meet at the Community Center this past Friday to discuss teen drug use. At the meeting, it soon became clear that the definition of “bad drugs” was up for debate. Are “bad drugs” only “hard" drugs like methamphetamine (speed), LSD, heroin and ecstasy, or does marijuana count too? Is the problem the fact that the kids ingested ecstasy pills possibly laced with other drugs, or is the problem that the kids were taking pills at all? Some parents expressed concerns about a “permissive” culture. Since many parents had smoked or are still smoking pot, many didn't think pot was a bad drug. It was felt that what kids need are more activities, with more responsible adult supervision, they said. So is there such a thing as "bad drugs" and "good drugs"? Every parent must know the answer to this very important question. This recent incident illustrates how confused parents are on this subject. And if parents are confused, how about the kids? Obviously, both adults and youth badly need the truth about drugs! You can get the truth about "good drugs" versus "bad drugs" by watching the feature "Why Kids Take Drugs" on our DVD - Marijuana The Myth. Here you will find out just how the whole theory of "good" and "bad" drugs started. You'll also see how surprised students are to find out the truth. First thing to watch is the feature "Why Kids Take Drugs," then the main feature - Marijuana The Myth. I guarantee you will learn something you did not know before! Even if you "know" your kid will never turn to drugs, you must be educated so you may ensure they and their friends get the truth about drugs before trouble starts. Another intriguing feature within the DVD is "Why Parents Are the Last to Know." The DVD is 80-minutes long with over 60 minutes of vital parental education. Share it with others. Set up a viewing in your neighborhood and spread the truth about drugs among your kids' friends, your friends and neighbors. (And tell us about it! Ask our staff for blank surveys for your viewers to fill out after they've watched the DVD. Then send us the results. We are very interested!)
