Friends of Narconon President's Briefing--Issue 20   PDF  Print  Email

There's No Santa for These Baby Boomers

Americans consider driving while impaired by alcohol or other drugs the nation's greatest highway safety problem, according to a 2005 Gallup poll.

37% of the people who responded called drunk driving the worst problem, followed by speeding at 27%.

Yet 60% of those same people admitted they had driven a vehicle while drunk or near-drunk, up from
57% in 2000.

"The poll clearly shows this is a major concern, especially during the holidays because of increased drinking and increased driving," said Glynn Birch, national president of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, which co-sponsored the survey with Nationwide Insurance.

Also, more people age 40 and older are dying of drug overdoses at double the rate recorded in 1990 in a little-noticed trend that dispells the notion of hard-core drug use being primarily a young person's problem.

Surely, overdoses among baby boomers are driving an overall increase so dramatic that soon drug deaths may surpass automobile accidents as a leading cause of nonnatural deaths.

I would like to ensure we all give the gift of life this holiday season. One never knows when a family member, friend or loved one will go a little overboard during the holiday season.

One of the best things you can do to combat this issue is provide them with good education. Having said that, Friends of Narconon has put together a Family Drug Education Special for you.

For a limited time you can get a set of 2, 4 or 6 DVD's of your choice to give out as gifts over the holidays. Our DVD's work for all age groups, young and old.

Every adult we have talked to learned a lot from watching our Truth About Drugs DVD's. It is a great gift and, at the same time, you will be helping us continue our efforts to combat the drug problem through effective education!

The prices for the Holiday special are as follows:

2 DVDs - $ 75.20 (normally $94.00)
4 DVDs - $141.00 (normally $188.00)
6 DVDs - $197.40 (normally $282.00)

(Above packages include any combination of titles. We currently carry The Truth About Drugs, What Is It? DVD [for younger kids] and Marijuana - The Myth DVD [for teenagers and adults]. Both DVDs include the special features Why Kids Take Drugs and Why Parents Are the Last to Know.)

We also have a special offer for larger orders. You can call Donna Miller at Friends of Narconon 800-882-6862 for details.

This offer is good until January 1, 2006. However, if you order by December 15th, 2005 we will provide FREE shipping AND throw in a new booklet called "Drug Facts." California residents are charged tax. This is a great way to give the gift of life over the holidays!

Let's work together and make sure all our loved ones are educated and remain safe over the holidays!

Sincerely,

Robert Hernandez, CCDC*
