Nobody is born with a built-in knowledge of drugs. Even so, we all know someone who claims to have guzzled this, smoked that, and come back from a trip to beat them all. That's fine if you're able to match what they say against what you know, and draw your own conclusions. But problems arise when you are unsure what, or who, to believe. Many teenagers desire to "fit in" with their peers. Others simply want to be cool. Or maybe they have an interest in that special "someone" who is using drugs. Whatever the case, there are many things kids are told by their friends that can make sense; if you don't know better. Here are some classic myths: "I was told that if you did LSD than 10 times you were classified as insane by the government" (false) (LSD - an hallucinogenic drug) "Taking LSD is like taking 10 Es (ecstasy pills)!" (false) "Coke must be good because it's expensive" (false) (Coke - short name for cocaine) Such claims might look stupid on the screen, but when presented with confidence by someone you like and admire, it can be hard to know what Often, it's easier to simply agree or invent a drug experience of your own so you don't stand out as a novice. Thus the vicious cycle begins. One sure way to help kids make sound decisions on their own is to provide them with accurate and up-to-date information about drugs. That is precisely what the Friends of Narconon Truth About Drugs video series does. Our video program is now in over 6,000 public schools across America. We did a compilation of survey data received from students who watched our videos in schools across America and here is what we found: * 80% of the students said they would use what they learned from the video to tell their friends, be there for them, help them. 40% specifically said they would tell them about drugs in the body, staying in the fat cells. * 65% of the students surveyed indicated that their thoughts about drugs had changed, while 25% said their decision to not do drugs was re-enforced. * 87.5% Said they learned something they did not know before, that drugs stay in the body for a long time. * 35% of 9th grade students said they had considered trying drugs, but after watching the video, decided not to. 15% of 12th graders indicated they would not use drugs again after watching the video. Once equipped with the Truth About Drugs kids are now able to think for themselves on this issue. They will be less likely to agree with the false information spread by their peers or those they admire. In fact, as you can see from the above survey results, kids are more likely now to start spreading the truth to their friends. Doing this in a large volume is one way we can all contribute to the future of our society. Just imagine having our school kids coming out of high school with a total understanding about drugs and what they do. Our children are the future, lets join together in building a better future. So sponsor your schools today for only $200.00 per school! Working together we can all make a difference!
