Friends of Narconon President's Briefing -- Issue 79   PDF  Print  Email

Will Spring Break Your Child?

It's that time of year where drug use starts to increase.

The very basic reason for this is "Spring Break" and "Summer". More teens than ever are putting themselves in harms way during Spring Break.

According to travel industry experts, an estimated one in seven (15%) young people on Spring Break party destinations are high school students.

Even teens who stay at home are subjected to increased drug use.

Why is that?

Unsupervised time, money to spend, and peer pressure to "have fun" can be a recipe for risky behaviors, particularly drug use.

A recent report shows that more teens start using marijuana, cigarettes, and alcohol for the first time between the spring and summer months-prime time for teens on Spring Break and time unsupervised by parents or teachers.

Further, teen girls are at an even greater risk than boys when it comes to engaging in risky behaviors.

Spring Break is a very important time in the eyes of teens.

A new Omnibuzz survey by Teen Research Unlimited (TRU) shows that many teens are planning to spend money on Spring Break this year.

In fact, 39 percent of youth aged 16 to 18 said they would spend $100 or more.

So the next question is what do you think they will spend this money on?

If your a drug dealer, you know what your plans are right?

Now that we know this information, what can you as concerned citizens and parents do about it?

The answer is simple, sponsor schools right now so we can reach these kids before summer time hits.

Right now you have a golden opportunity to make a difference in saving many kids from turning to drugs.

So ask yourself this question, "How much is a child's life worth?"

Think about it. For just 7 cents per child you can save them from turning to drugs.

Now think about this, "When you are old and gray, who do you think will be running this country?"

Lets not even go there!

Act now and sponsor some schools today!

THE QUIZ

Several weeks ago I presented another quiz. To finalize my survey, I need some more answers. please help by replying.

The question was:
"WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF BOREDOM?"

As promised, there will be gifts going out to those who got the correct answer to the last quiz. It is a surprise, so be on the look-out for it.

There will also be gifts for those who turn in correct answers to this new question.

So put your thinking caps on!

The answers to these quizzes are covered in our next video "Drugs and Emotions" which is currently in development.

This new video will reveal the emotional state of a young person when they first decide to experiment with drugs as well as the very CAUSE of such emotions.

Imagine what having those answers can do for a teenager!

Feel free to pass this article on to your friends and family.

A public version of our school videos (which includes additional footage and material) is available on DVD for only $47.
