Use Drugs "Safely," Please! "We must have a fallback strategy that provides young people with credible information and resources so they do the least possible harm to themselves and those around them," says Dr. Marsha Rosenbaum, PhD, in her book Safety First - a Reality-Based Approach to Teens, Drugs, and Drug Education, San Francisco, Drug Policy Alliance. The Drug Policy Alliance subscribes to the "drink responsibly" theory all the way. While they do claim that this approach is good drug education, they fail to provide effective drug education kids would respond to by NOT using drugs. With this year marking 4 decades in Narconon's drug rehabilitation and education services, Narconon has the background and hands-on knowledge about both drug addiction and education. Compare Narconon's 4 decades of experience to the background of the Drug Policy Alliance, as stated on their website: "On July 1, 2000, The Lindesmith Center merged with the Drug Policy Foundation to form the Alliance. "Created in 1994, The Lindesmith Center was the first U.S. project of the Open Society Institute and the leading independent drug policy reform institute in the United States. "The Drug Policy Foundation, founded in 1987, was the principal membership-based drug policy reform organization in the U.S. The Drug Policy Alliance now has offices in four states and Washington, D.C." The Drug Policy Alliance has been in operation for 12 years. There are no reports of hands-on teaching or rehabilitation in their records, or... success. Narconon has 40 years of results and a worldwide network of effective centers. And Friends of Narconon recently released the award-winning drug education film "Xtasy The Real Story". As the title implies, it is the real story of the drug problem. Surveys show a positive impact on kids' decision-making process regarding drugs as a result of watching any of our Truth About Drugs videos. No where do we teach to "Use drugs safely"! "Safe" drug use is nonexistent. It is a completely wrong message to send to our youth and frankly, the Drug Policy Alliance should be ashamed of themselves! Dr. Marsha Rosenbaum should really be ashamed of herself for spreading such a deceptive approach to drug prevention. Another interesting tidbit about the Drug Policy Alliance can be found by looking up information on the "Open Society Institute," which is part of the SOROS network; but that is another story all together. The last thing we need in our country is for anyone to think that moderate drug use is OK. It isn't. Drugs kill, and most drug fatalities have started with "moderation." It is vital to teach youth the truth about drugs. That truth can save lives. That is what Friends of Narconon does. We bring the truth about drugs to kids in a way they can relate to and which has the highest impact on their decision-making process. Our research shows that given the truth, presented in an understandable way, kids make their own decision not to do drugs. They don't have to be told to say no.
