Following the "Platinum Best of Show" award we've recently received from the Aurora Awards film competition for Xtasy The Real Story (a monumental achievement for the entire Narconon Network!). I wanted to share with you my personal take on why, at Friends of Narconon, we do what we do. We live in a modern world. The speed with which today's kids can obtain information is light years ahead of what some of us had 25 years ago. Kids today have greater access to all types of information about drugs, good and bad. The problem stems from the mis-information or false data. For example, when I was 9 years old, smoking marijuana was not considered a problem. It was a way of life. It was "natural," no harm done. Taking LSD was considered "cool" among both adults and kids. We did not have the type of drug education Narconon offers today. It just did not exist. As a result, kids' minds were being molded into a "think" about drugs that has catapulted drug use to record numbers. And the problem keeps growing. There are over 22 million drug addicts in the USA today, and more people start on drugs each day than we can rehabilitate in drug treatment centers! At Friends of Narconon we work to change this "think" before drug experimentation turns into addiction. With our Truth About Drugs Video Program now in over 5,500 schools across the USA, we are accomplishing just that. I have read more than 4,000 surveys from kids and teachers who have watched our videos. Here are some comments from those who have watched Xtasy The Real Story: “I thought my students were going to revolt...” “What a pleasant surprise the Xtasy video was for the class. "Educational videos have a tendency to be outdated and dull, not the case for this video. "The first time I showed the video I was going to turn if off before it ended so that we could discuss what we saw. "I thought the students were going to revolt... They really wanted to see the entire show! They loved every minute of it.” — Health Teacher, California High School “It showed real situations…” “I liked how it showed the real situations that could happen and how easily you can get pushed into using drugs. "It’s amazing how many people can get stuck in a situation and actually give in to trying this drug. "I think this film will help students not to do this drug.” — 9th grade student Xtasy The Real Story has been producing 98% positive response. With such results, we are accomplishing our goal, best stated in our slogan: "Changing Minds - Saving Lives!" Just imagine more students having similar realizations! Think of the impact this will have on their lives, and on our future! Our school sponsorship program provides the correct order of magnitude to handle the size of the problem. By getting the Narconon Truth About Drugs Video Program out to every school in the USA, we can make a difference. Last year we reached over 1.4 million students with the truth about drugs. This year we want to double that. Your help is needed. By sponsoring a school you can make a difference in many kids' lives today. That is why we do what we do. Changing minds about using drugs is a major step to putting an end to the drug problem. That is why we do what we do. It only costs $200 to sponsor a school. Each video can reach over 3000 students during its life (only 7 cents per student!). So don't wait. Contact Donna Miller at Friends of Narconon and sponsor a school today! CALL: 1-800-882-6862.
