How Did Education Change?

Its time for us all to clear up a basic turning point that happened in the educational community here in the USA.

I believe this same thing has also affected education around the world.

It is obvious to most of us that education has taken a turn for the worse.

Sure we can blame this or that, but what is the underlying truth that caused this demise of our education?

How could it be that just a few hundred years ago we had a much higher literacy rate than we do now?

To understand this, we must first look at how the definition of "education" has been changed.

For example, in the New York Century Dictionary of the English Language (Appleton/Century/Crofts: New York, 1927) education was defined as: "The drawing out of a persons innate talents and abilities by imparting the knowledge of languages, scientific reasoning, history, literature, rhetoric, etc. - the channels through which those abilities would flourish and serve." (Not bad really.)

Now lets have a look at the drastic change that took place which altered the course of education forever.

There was a new dehumanizing definition used by the experimental psychologist found in "An Outline of Educational Psychology" (Barnes & Noble: New York, 1934, rev. ed.) by Rudolph Pintner et al.

This truly "revolutionary" definition claims: "Learning is the result of modifiability in the paths of neural conduction. Explanations of even such forms of learning as abstraction and generalization demand of the neurones only growth, excitability, conductivity and modifiability. The mind is the connection-system of man; and learning is the process of connecting. The situation-response formula is adequate to cover learning of any sort, and the really influential factors in learning are readiness of the neurones, sequence in time, belongingness, and satisfying consequences."

Man, if you're like me, your hair probably started standing on edge halfway through this "new definition" of education.

I am telling each and every one of you that this is very serious business. In order for us to begin to even comprehend the magnitude of educational degradation we have experienced in our school systems today, we must all understand what took place with the redefining of education as stated above.

Some years ago, our top Narconon presenter, Bobby Wiggins, realized that teachers and students did not know the exact definition of a drug.

When he asked a classroom of 100 teachers if they knew the definition of a drug, only one lady raised her hand (and she had only a very partial definition).

Then he asked them, if they didn't know the definition, "What are the chances of your students knowing what a drug is?" They all acknowledged, of course, "none."

You see the problem? Lack of understanding of what drugs really are and how they affect someone, prevents them from making an informed decision to not take them.

Knowing this information above, one has to ask themselves, "What can I do to help?"

The answer is simple. Help Friends of Narconon get our "Truth About Drugs" video program into our public schools.

We have the information kids need to make these correct decisions and the results are simply staggering.

There are many ways you can help us do something about this problem.

Call Sarah Jonic today at Friends of Narconon, 1-800-882-6862, and find out about our new school campaign we are launching with the release of our new video "Ecstasy The Real Story" (due in February 06).

Our teachers and students desperately need this information so call now!

Sincerely,
Robert Hernandez, CCDC*
