Friends of Narconon President's Briefing--Issue 24   PDF  Print  Email

WAS YOUR CLASSROOM LIKE THIS?

Imagine a classroom of 30 high school seniors. Seventeen of those teenagers first had sex at age 16 or younger.

Seven have carried a weapon in the past month.

And four have attempted suicide in the past four years.

This is just an example of one classroom scenario based on the results of youth behavior surveys done by a Virginia High School Prevention Planning Team.

The percentage of high school students who had sex before age 13, smoked marijuana in the 30 days before taking the survey, and attempted suicide in the 12 months before the survey was given, all increased since 2002, according to Youth Risk Behavior Survey results.

The results from the middle school survey showed that the rates of sixth- and eighth-graders who first had sex or tried marijuana at age 13 or younger had also increased from 2002 to 2005.

What do we do about this ongoing situation?

Would you agree that this is a very dangerous condition in our society?

Absolutely it is. The current system of education about drugs is not getting the job done fast enough.

What is needed is an immediate impact.

As a society we cannot sustain this type of degradation in our educational system and expect to flourish and prosper. This affects everyone in the world.

Fortunately at Friends of Narconon we have a solution, if rapidly implemented, which could save millions of kids from turning to drugs.

This is no small statement I assure you.

Through years of research and correspondence with teachers across America, we have uncovered the exact needs and wants of the students and teachers in the classroom as it relates to drug education.

Our current drug education kits are filling the bill with great results. Recent surveys from students watching our soon-to-be-released Ecstasy video had this to say:

"I knew that the drug could kill you, but I didn't know that it would take a person over." 10th Grade Student

"This video is extremely powerful, meaningful and educational. It was an eye-opener not only for me but the rest of the class as well." 9th Grade Student

"This video hit home. It helps teenagers know what they are getting themselves into." 11th Grade Student

The fastest way we can get this vital information into the schools is by sponsorships.

Through these efforts Friends of Narconon has 5,189 schools across the USA using our materials reaching over 6 million kids since 1995.

These results speak for themselves.

So, can we reduce the rate of kids using drugs? Can we keep them from doing stupid things? If we do that, will we all be better for it? The answer is simple. YES.

Contact Sara Jonic at Friends of Narconon today (1-800-882-6862) and find out how you can participate in the fastest growing drug education program being implemented to our youth.

As a team we can make this happen!

Sincerely,
Robert Hernandez, CCDC*
