Friends of Narconon President's Briefing--Issue 94   PDF  Print  Email

What's growing in your garden?

As if dealing with marijuana was not enough, now we have to deal with our kids using seemingly innocent plant leaves!

A little-known hallucinogenic leaf that is legal in most of the USA is the target of new calls for a ban after the suicide of a teenager who smoked it.

Salvia, is the most powerful natural hallucinogen known - almost as strong as LSD, experts say.

Known as "diviner's sage," salvia has been used for centuries by the Mazatec Indians in Mexico.

In the USA it is sold in leaf and liquid form by websites and drug paraphernalia shops and is available to anyone at any age.

Despite salvia's powerful nature, the Drug Enforcement Administration has not recommended that it be banned as a dangerous drug.

The DEA has been collecting information for years on the leaf, says Rogene Waite, a spokeswoman for DEA.

The process involves measuring its availability, potential for abuse and medical uses.

The plant produces large amounts of salvinorin A, an "extremely potent hallucinogen," nearly as strong as LSD, that targets a single chemical receptor in brain cells.

Easy Access = Easy Use!

The most dangerous thing about this "salvia" is that anyone can purchase it over the internet because it's legal in most states.

Whats even more alarming is that kids have been putting up videos online, while they are using it, to show it's effects.

The level of promotion available for such a thing is nearly overwhelming.

As with any substance, natural or man made, the underlying situation is still the same.

Kids need to be properly educated on the subject of drugs.

Without a clear understanding about what drugs actually do, kids are easy prey to all the marketing hype and social pressures to use them.

Fortunately there is something you can do about this situation for your neighborhood.

Friends of Narconon provides drug education kits to schools all across the USA.

The positive results are pouring in and it is only a matter of getting materials to the teachers.

All you need to do is sponsor some schools in your area.

Friends of Narconon will contact the teachers, get them to agree to use the materials, then send them the materials and then follow up with them to make sure they used them and to get results.

It is that simple!

So call Donna Miller today and sponsor those schools! 1-800-882-6862

Sincerely,
