Withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs can be a painful, even life-threatening process. An addict's entire family can be frustrated with the addict's unwillingness to get help. What they may not know is that even if he/she is "serious" about quitting, drug withdrawals may be too gruesome for them to face!

If there was a way to help the addict during their first week of abstinence from drugs, experience has shown, that many would remain "clean". And even if they "slip," one could put them through withdrawal again and give them yet another chance at sober living.

Withdrawal from drugs (also known as "detox") is the first step any addict goes through when they arrive at a Narconon facility. Time and time again, I have heard former addicts comment on the "pleasant surprise" they had going through Narconon's drug-free, humane withdrawal.
