Real Success Stories
"Hi! I'm Kim. I've just started here and everything is going great. I see a big change in myself. When I first got here I was doing horrible. I hated myself and I hated life. All I wanted to do was die. I was always depressed and what not. Like I said I've seen a change in myself. I'm more happy and not depressed that much anymore. I actually look forward to living and don't think of death anymore. I'm learning how to live with my feelings and everything else--sober. Who said miracles can't happen? Here's to the best to come and a happier life!!" - K.B.

Phase IV: Changing Conditions in Life   PDF  Print  Email

In addition to dealing with the past, addicts MUST learn to change their behavior if they are to be freed from the desire to take drugs.

This section of the program gives the addict an objective method of dealing with any situation he may encounter as a drug-free individual. It makes the addict infinitely more stable as a person, because he now knows how to solve his problems and has the ability to do so.

Areas addressed: Ethics, Morals and Life Skills.

Life doesn't come with an instruction manual, and rule books aren't distributed at birth. For most of us, this can make the process of growing up a confusing one.

But for drug addicts and alcoholics, the lack of solid information on how to deal with life can be deadly. How does one choose a marriage partner? How do you deal with stress on the job? What's the right thing to do if a friend confesses to you that he has committed some type of felony?

Phase IV of the Narconon program is designed to stabilize the drug addict. It is a combination of the following actions:

  1. Specific therapies which deal with past failures and the upsets these failures cause.
  2. Careful examination of the addict's current condition in many areas of life.
  3. Exact strategies to handle areas of life which may have baffled and frustrated the addict before.
  4. Life-Skills training, which has the end result of improving the morale of the addict and his relationships with others.
  5. A review of common, non-denominational moral principles which explain WHY it is important to follow them.
