Friends of Narconon President's Briefing--Issue 5   PDF  Print  Email
So now there is an attempt to turn Ecstasy into a medication?

Recent stories have surfaced about Ecstasy easing Parkinson's disease like muscle rigidity. One headline read, "Mice get help from drugs."

What I find interesting in all this is that we know media is created. The fact is, there are reports going back to 2001 on this approach of Ecstasy possibly helping with a disease.

Last year, Peter Jennings, on ABC Network in the USA, aired a special about Ecstasy. This particular show did nothing but attempt to discredit the science on Ecstasy causing brain damage.

The entire one-hour show did nothing but put a positive spin on Ecstasy. So why would that be? Who would gain from creating such a campaign?

When you look at all these elements in our society you can see there is a lot going on here. It is obvious that vested interest would love to have Ecstasy relegated to "medical use."

In our new film Ecstasy The Real Story (soon to be released) we actually expose, with hard evidence, how mass media has influenced our youth into using the drug Ecstasy.

Even our government does not have good things to say about Ecstasy.

Here is a quote from Glen R. Hanson, D.D.S., Ph.D., Acting Director, National Institute on Drug Abuse from a 2002 subcommittee meeting:

"Let me begin by stating that there is substantial scientific evidence that proves that 3,4-Methylene-Dioxy-Meth-Amphetamine, which is frequently referred to by the acronym MDMA and known on the street as "Ecstasy," has substantial risk associated with its use.

"It is not benign, like some of its users and even a very small minority of researchers have proclaimed. MDMA can produce both short- and long-term physiological and psychological consequences that can be detrimental to an individual's health."

If we know all these bad things about drugs, why then do our kids take them? First, there are very large marketing forces at play.

Even the drug dealers know how to market and sell their product.

But in the end, it is all about education. That is what we are doing here at Friends of Narconon.

By educating our youth, we are Changing Minds - Saving Lives! That is the true solution to ending the drug problem.

Once a child knows the true facts about drugs, in a manner they can fully understand, most of them decide not to take them.

This is our best defense for the future of our society, which is our children.

Sincerely

News and Topics of Interest

Here's what one of the kids in Hawaii had to say after viewing "Marijuana The Myth" video:

"Dear Mr. Mau, I really appreciated your sponsoring of the drug video. I think many teens learned from the presentation made by the teacher in the movie. There are to many people who have the wrong information concerning drugs, and it was time to get the true facts. I never knew that drugs will stay in your system for life! That really changed how I feel about drugs. You informed us on how drugs make you feel and gave us facts on the long term effects. Some people believe that Marijuana does not have a long term effect or stay in the system for a long time. After viewing your video we now have correct facts, and can make the right choices. I feel that the drug video was important to see, and I hope other young people can learn from it as I did. Sincerely, 10th Grader"
