3 reasons why young teenagers take drugs   PDF  Print  Email

A recent online Yahoo® survey asked to “list three reasons why young teenagers take drugs.” The reason given most frequently was “peer pressure.”

Since the majority of youth have no reliable information about the dangers of drugs such as marijuana, Exstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, etc. they rely on their friends for "information" and so become the victims of peer pressure.

In recent Friends of Narconon® surveys answered by junior high and high school kids one of the most frequently mentioned benefits of students who had watched “Xtasy, The True Story” Part 1 and/or Part 2 was that they felt that those films would help them educate their friends and other people about the dangers of drugs.

Obviously, kids who know the truth about drugs, cannot be pressured into taking them!

Here is a sample from those surveys:
"I can apply what I learned to my life or I can just tell someone else about it. It might change their life for the better." 10th Grade Student, South Carolina High School

"Drugs mess up your system. I think that I won't take drugs because I don't want to feel the side effects. "
9th Grade Student, South Carolina High School

"Thank you so much; you are making a big difference."
7th Grade Student, Wisconsin Middle School
